RED CROSS CLUB

CLUB ADVISOR - SHANNON HOOPES

ABOUT THE CLUB

Hillsdale Red Cross Club will be one of the many school-based service groups that will help the Red Cross fulfill its humanitarian mission. The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization led by volunteers that provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. It does this through services guided by its congressional charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. These principles are humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality. Hillsdale's Red Cross club will strive to embody all of these principles by volunteering and working on projects that exemplify these values in order to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies. The Hillsdale Red Cross Club, will learn, practice and exemplify humanitarian values through mission-related service projects. The Red Cross Club provides you and your peers opportunities to make a meaningful impact in your community by addressing its greatest needs, and develop leadership skills by giving you the opportunity to work and lead projects such as blood drives or organizing an event for elementary school kids on fire safety. Red Cross Clubs empower you with knowledge and life-saving skills to help prepare your school and community to respond to emergencies. Throughout the year the club will plan and coordinate a minimum of three Red Cross mission-related service projects per year. The service projects will focus on emergency preparedness, blood drives, and possibly fundraising.
